Abstract: 

An attempt is made for the study of steady two-dimensional flow of a viscous and incompressible fluid striking at some angle of incidence on a STRETCHING SHEET. Fluid is considered in the porous media obeying Darcy law, in the presence of radiation effect. Rosseland approximation is use to model the radiative heat transfer. The stream function splits into a Hiemenz and a tangential component. Using similarity variables, the governing partial differential equations are transformed into a set of three non-dimensional ordinary differential equations. These equations are then solved numerically using fifth order Runge-Kutta Fehlberg method with shooting technique. In the present reported work the effects of striking angle, radiation parameter, porosity parameter and the Prandtl number on flow and heat transfer characteristics have been discussed. Variations of above discussed parameters with the STRETCHING SHEET parameter have been graphically presented.

Abstract: 

In the metal forming processes, the process variables (such as forming speed) have significant effects on the forming parameters. In this study, using the motion equations (instead of the equilibrium equations) in the biaxial STRETCHING analysis of the SHEET, the evolution of initial in homogeneity has been simulated. Adopting work hardening and strain rate hardening characteristic for material, the effects of forming speed on the shape and position of the forming limit diagram (FLD) are investigated theoretically over a wide range of strain rate. Furthermore, the combined effects of the strain rate and material intrinsic parameters (density, strain hardening component and strain rate sensitivity index) on the critical strain are obtained in the case of plane strain loading. The analysis indicates that after a certain forming rate, by increasing the strain rate, localized necking is retarded and formability of SHEET improves monotonically because of inertia effects.

Abstract: 

In this paper, the Magneto Hydro Dynamic (MHD) boundary layer flow over a nonlinear porous STRETCHING SHEET is investigated by employing the Homotopy Perturbation Transform Method (HPTM) and the Pade´ approximation. The numerical solution of the governing non-linear problem is developed. Comparison of the present solution is made with the existing solution and excellent agreement is noted. Graphical results have been presented and discussed for the pertinent parameters. The results attained in this paper confirm the idea that HPTM is powerful mathematical tool and it can be applied to a large class of linear and nonlinear problems arising in different fields of science and engineering.

Abstract: 

The flow of a ferromagnetic liquid due to gravity-aligned STRETCHING of an elastic SHEET in the presence of a magnetic dipole is considered. The fluid momentum and thermal energy equations are formulated as a six parameter problem and a numerical study is made using the shooting method based on Runge- Kutta Fehlberg and Newton Raphson methods. Extensive computation on the velocity and temperature profiles is presented for a wide range of values of the parameters. It was found that the primary effect of the magnetothermomechanical interaction is to decelerate the fluid motion as compared to the hydrodynamic case. The results have possible industrial applications in ferromagnetic liquid based systems involving stretchable materials.

Abstract: 

In this paper a numerical method for solving generalized three-dimensional magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) flow of an incompressible viscous fluid over a porous STRETCHING SHEET is proposed. This approach is based on Legendre pseudo-spectral method with a positive scaling factor and extrapolation. The present method solves the problem on the semi-infinite domain without truncating it to a finite domain. In addition, this method reduces the solution of the problem to solution of a system of algebraic equations. The obtained numerical results are compared with some well-known results to confirm the accuracy and efficiency of the proposed scheme.

Abstract: 

In this paper the viscoelastic flow and heat transfer over a non-linearly STRETCHING SHEET with the power law velocity of the form uw= cxn is investigated for the first time. A prescribed power-law surface temperature distribution of the form Tw= T ¥ + Axn is considered. Mathematical model is constructed through the constitutive equations of second grade fluid. The arising non-linear boundary value problem has been treated analytically by a powerful optimal homotopy analysis method (OHAM). The solutions are found in excellent agreement with the obtained numerical solutions in the case of Newtonian fluid. The results show that velocity and skin friction coefficient have direct relationship with the power-law index n. Further the thermal boundary layer becomes thinner when larger values of n are taken into account.
